Kentuckians deserve an apology from Sen. Roeding

FRANKFORT- In response to recent anti-gay remarks made by Republican State Sen. Richard "Dick" Roeding of Lakeside Park, Kentucky Democratic Party State Chairman Jerry Lundergan today called on Senate leadership to ask for an apology from Roeding and to ask for his resignation.

“Just weeks ago, Governor Fletcher’s press secretary, Brett Hall, made statements to the press that were less inflammatory than those of Sen. Roeding and he was forced to resign his position. I feel Sen. Roeding should be held to the same standard,” Chairman Lundergan said.

“These types of statements do not represent the feelings of Kentuckians. This type of hatred, bigotry and vulgarity is not acceptable to Kentuckians. Sen. Roeding claims to have family values but demonstrated that this is just another ploy to get elected. As leaders of Kentucky, we cannot make these kinds of statements and hope to continue to lead.”
